How My Dream Travel To … Will Look Like?
Visiting places has been one of my childhood passions since my father had a transfer oriented job. I love new places, new people and the new environment. I have been to the jungles of Africa, I have seen the coasts of Germany and I have visited the land of the Emirates. However I have always found the New York City so attractive since it’s presented in hollywood movies as the place of fashion, fun and party. The report at hand is based on the theme of my dream travel to a place and I have chosen the NewYork City as my dream destination.
The NewYork City, also known as “The Big Apple”, comprises of 5 boroughs namely Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn. It is a major world leader and a global capital in the domains of communications, finance and arts. The harbor of New York is one of the most excellent in the globe and has been ranked as the biggest port compound on the East Coast. New York City is the home for the United Nations and includes the headquarters of a large number of important organizations from across the world. The city is considered to be a significant spot for fashion, advertising, shooting, radio broadcasting, publishing etc. by the important firms across the entire world (Burrows & Wallace, 1998).
I have seen in news, how brutally this beautiful city was attacked during 2001 and since then I wished to see the demolished site of the twin towers where thousands of people visit every day to remember their deceased relatives. I have prepared a list of places which I would definitely visit, if I ever get a chance to travel to the city. The list includes Times Square, Central park, Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Fifth Avenue, Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Grand Central Terminal, Bryant Park, MoMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Washington Square, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Morgan Library. It would take a long time to visit all these places and so I have plans for spending a whole month there (NYC, n.d.).
It is necessary for me to gather some information about the city’s best places. So I would do some prior research via internet before actually visiting the place. According to a famous tourism site, the months of January and February are ideal for enjoying the beauty of the city. They have suggested that the best view of the place can be experienced from the top of the Empire State Building or the Top of the Rock or may be from the rooms of the Hotel Gansevoort (tripadvisor.co.uk., n.d.). At this time of the year the price of the hotels and flights drop comparatively so it would be the ideal time to visit the city especially for those who has restricted budget. While exploring the city, I would like to spend the daytime at the museums, parks, cathedrals and the shopping malls and during the night I would prefer to attend the musical concerts, parties and theaters.
Finally I would conclude my trip by spending the last week of my planned one month stay at the organizations like The Hebrew Orphan Asylum of New York and the events organized by the NGO CSW since I feel that while visiting a place, its necessary to know the fun as well as the pain borne by the residents of the place. Only then I can say that yes I have seen and known the place completely.
